‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.’

I consider this to be somewhat of a mantra, well, more a phrase I use a lot when giving others advice, but I am coming to realize that it seems to be a case of do as I say not as I do..for instance, I give people advice on their diet, yet I am unhappy with my own diet and shape. The same can be said of lifting, whilst I have made great progress, had I stuck to certain techniques rather than constantly switching things up I may have been even better. Whilst variety is the spice of life, and is a key concept in the conjugate system of training (WESTSIDE MOTHERFUCKER), it can lead to issues for those less experienced. experimenting with different stances and new grips and all the rest of it can bring up weak areas, but it can do damage to, as someone that needs more pratice than most to learn physical tasks I have realised that my biggest weakness is also what has helped me get stronger; obsessive variation.

It is perhaps high time (shout out to Tommy Dunn) that I heed my own advice and stop tampering with what works, I am setting myself the goal of undertaking an entire training cycle without changing something needlessly. my foray into strongman will give me a chance to do so, especially considering the new movements I need to learn, but It is something I need to condition into myself, Do I need to change that? will this work better than that in the long run ? questions I will no doubt collide with at many a turn over the next few months but I will make it a goal, to finally listen to my own advice.

Fuck the haters.
