Andrew Moin — If I feel comfortable I will turn off my basal rates from my pump (this actually happens automatically using Loop). The reduction in basal tends to start bringing me back up in 15–20 mins and I have been able to recover from most lows this way in 1 hour. This is only relevant where I am not doing anything active, not driving and in a safe place with fast acting carbs nearby.
Typically my low is softer on keto because I don’t very often have much insulin working in my system, so there is nothing driving me down that quickly.
During this 6 weeks I did have one low during the night where I decided to eat fast acting carbs and I did not regret breaking keto protocol to do it.
