Lopp is a long-time software engineer and bitcoin developer. Not only does he have a pretty good grasp of how it all works (as you might expect), but he’s not bad at explaining it in terms an ordinary person would understand. As a starting point, why not take a look at his article Explain Bitcoin Like I’m Five: https://medium.freecodecamp.org/explain-bitcoin-like-im-five-73b4257ac833
(Hint: you’ll need to be more than 5, at least for the second part of the article. But it’s still a pretty good start at explaining something that a lot of the brightest minds in the world haven’t come to terms with yet.)
