Setting Up MetaMask

Part 1 — Download & Set-up

The MetaMask crypto wallet has always been widely accepted in almost every dApp. This may not be the case for TrustWallet. This is why I will be creating a a step-by-step guide on how to set-up MetaMask!

Part 1/3

Step 1: Google Chrome

I use Google Chrome. However, MetaMask supports 3 other browsers as well. If we are using Mac OS, Safari is not supported.

Step 2: Download A VPN

Activate our VPN while browsing. I use ExpressVPN because it is the best in market for security reasons. But we can use any other providers! I wouldn’t go for free ones as our data might be compromised— nothing in this world is free!

Step 3: MetaMask Extension

Head over to the Chrome Web Store and add MetaMask to our extension. Click on “Add To Chrome”.

After adding it to our Google Chrome, we should be able to see the MetaMask icon at the top-right; our tool bar. If it isn’t showing, click on the second icon down in my screenshot below and pin it to the tool bar. Now, we can access it conveniently.

Step 4: Setting Up MetaMask

Now that we have the MetaMask extension, let’s see how it looks like! Click on “Get Started”.

(1) If we already have an existing wallet and want to import, click on “Import Wallet”. Enter our Seed Phrase and new password.

(2) If not, “Create a Wallet”:
> We will be presented with a Seed Phrase. This is our key password. Keep it safe and never let anyone know!!!
> We will be prompted to re-type in our Seed Phrase in the exact sequence to make sure we have saved the information.

Ta-daa! We are done. We can now send and receive cryptocurrencies on the Ethereum network, which is our default. However, the crypto world has a lot of networks!
