How we’re funding 14 global NFT artists with 6ETH each to grow a diverse and inclusive ecosystem

In the past few weeks, the Crypto Mo Art Appreciation Society has begun onboarding 14 global artists as our artists-in-residence as part of our relaunch.

When we initially minted in October, PFP collections were all the rage and we looked at what was happening in the market and thought “what if we could use money made from PFPs to invest in artists and art”. So we launched and marketed ourselves as a PFP project here to support artists.

In the process we created a small and passionate community who understood what we were about, but a lot of our message got lost in all the talk of the Crypto Mos — there were just too many layers of complexity that we’d created to market the project to a broader audience.

We spent hours talking to people trying to figure out where we could do better. The whole time not one member of our community doubted us or what we were doing, in fact they have championed us all the way.

We also knew that when we had time to talk to people and they understood what we were doing they were 100% behind us too.

It wasn’t obvious to us until it was obvious — we had to remove some of the messaging that prevented people from understanding that buying a Crypto Mo NFT meant you were investing in an emerging artist to create art, and that you would be rewarded with that art.

TL,DR: Buying a a Crypto Mo NFT is investing in art and artists. It will change lives.

We pay artists 6 ETH each to produce 10 unique art pieces over 10 weeks that are distributed back as art in editions to our community.

Artists get paid, are highlighted and supported by our community, and our community of collectors collects the art. Arists are paid ongoing royalties too.

Each of the artists will join our Discord and share their work as they create their pieces. They’ll also be there to support each other as part of a truly global and diverse community. There will be real magic in this. We can feel it already. For the artists, as well as our community.

We also realised that until people saw the artists involved they might not be sure of who they are investing in — or even if we’ll be true to our word of finding diverse high quality artists. We have worked tirelessly to find artists from around the world who are producing outstanding work that should be elevated.

Ten of these artist-in-residence are being curated by the team to ensure we have a strong representation of style and diverse representation from around the world. We will start releasing these names next week on a rolling basis, and I cannot wait to showcase the talent we have found.

There will be FOUR public spots (in addition to the ten) that are open to artists to apply for. They will also be paid 6ETH to produce 10 pieces. We’ll be holding open Spaces on Twitter where you can come and talk about your art, and we’ll be sending all the details to a large and well-known collector and proponent of the arts to help us choose those final four residencies. We’ll reveal more about this in the coming days including the colllectors name, but this is a huge opportunity for anyone to get in front of them.

For now, we have stopped minting, and are rebuilding our smart contract. All current holders will retain their Mo’s and earn a special legacy position in our collection that we’ll make sure are rewarded in the future.

We’ll relaunch January at a date TBD.

The artists start their residency as soon as we hit 50% sold. If we don’t hit those targets we have contingency plans.

We don’t talk floor prices, we talk about art we’ve discovered, art we’re collecting, art we’re creating and we’re here to embrace and support artists and NFT believers.

At our heart we are an inclusive community dedicated to supporting and growing artists in the NFT space. We are collectors, art lovers, artists and art patrons.

We’ll have a lot more announcements coming in the next few days, but we wanted you to know that we’re here, we’re proud of our community, and we’re delighted to relaunch and have more of you on this journey with us.
