Strange Poker Coincidences

Ola poker lovers,

Just to widen your poker trivia trove, we are here to bring you some strange coincidental alignments among poker cards and the calendar.

Here’s how a poker card deck and the calendar are similar to each other:

1. The four suits in a deck of card represent four main seasons.

2. The two colours of cards in a deck — black and white — represent day and night.

3. The twelve court cards, comprising of all the Jacks, Queens and Kings, are similar to the 12 months in a year.

4. The thirteen values in a suit, from Ace, 2, 3,… to King, represent the 13 lunar cycles in a year.

5. 52 weeks in a year are represented by 52 cards in a deck.

6. Addition of all the cards, considering Ace as one, Jack as 11, Queen as 12 and King as 13, comes out to be 364. If you add the first joker as one, you get 365 days of a year, and upon adding the second joker as one, you get a total of 366, for the days in a leap year.

It’s not that cards were designed to represent the calendar. It’s just a play of number that comprise a deck of cards.
