Rehashing 2014
As another topsy-turvy year draws to a close, I thought it’d be a good idea to list down the various things I’m thankful for — partially for sentimental value, but also as a permanent record of the genuinely good things that happened in 2014.
I’m thankful for the decision to leave my twin startups, Infinite.ly and Happy.ph, in early February. I learned a lot from being in the startup wringer for the past 3 years, and I’m glad that I can now apply those learnings in a more rewarding context.
I’m thankful for discovering Bitcoin and joining Satoshi Citadel, which subsequently put me on a completely unexpected journey that has shown no sign of slowing down.
I’m thankful for Rebit, which in its first 6 months of operation, has shown me with great clarity what hockey-stick growth actually looks like.
I’m thankful for all the writing I’ve been able to do again, after having mostly given that up years ago. I’ve had a dozen pieces published in The Next Web, Coindesk, Cointelegraph, Bitcoin Magazine, TechInAsia, LetsTalkBitcoin, and Rappler so far — that’s more published writing in 6 months than in the 3 years preceding it.
I’m thankful for great superhero movies and compelling TV.

I’m thankful for old friends.
I’m thankful for my family.
I’m thankful for my nephew, who is a day and a half old as I write this, and who I am still building up the courage to carry.
And I’m thankful for 2015, because I have no idea what it holds.
