Ctrl: A Meal Replacement Drink

I work with a skeleton crew in pediatric trauma. Forgetting to eat — or not having enough time to eat — is a normal occurrence in my hectic, busy life. I also take boxing classes which make me absolutely ravenous. Finding the time to cook a healthy meal is nearly impossible with my schedule — especially since I’m also a gamer.

As a gamer and Mixer streamer, I love supporting companies that are developed by gamers. CTRL was founded by veterans of the esports and video game industry, and with top Call of Duty players like Seth “Scump” Abner and Doug “Censor” Martin drinking their powdered meal replacement shakes, CTRL was hard to ignore.

The shake comes in three flavors: Cocoa Crunch, Cinnamon Toast, and Fruity Flakes — offering a diverse selection to suit your “cereal-y” tastes. Since I’m a girl that can’t say no to chocolate, I bought CTRL’s Cocoa Crunch meal replacement. The company compares the taste of their supplemental shakes to the bottom of the cereal bowl.

Honestly, it’s much better.

I poured two scoops of the Cocoa Crunch into milk and mixed it together in a shaker cup. You can mix it with water instead, but I recommend using milk for a thicker consistency and some extra calories. There were no unmixed globs left floating anywhere, but there are tiny cereal pieces which are an awesome addition! However, the drink tasted slightly more like a milkshake instead of the bottom of a cereal bowl… which I like. It’s also extremely filling!

Most of us live a lifestyle where it’s much more convenient to grab a quick, unhealthy snack instead of taking the time to eat — or in this case, drink — right. CTRL provides the best of both worlds: it’s fast and healthy, and it’s packed with essential nutrients — including 23 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber.

CTRL also includes an impressive blend of carbohydrates, good fats (MCTs), and 22 vitamins and minerals like vitamin D, calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium. With so many nutrients packed into one drink, CTRL is hard to pass up.

And with the number of nutrients CTRL has to offer, the price is amazing — the equivalent of one meal costs as little as $3 per serving. As someone who tends to rely on a lot of takeout and fast-food delivery, CTRL has certainly improved my relationship with my bank account.

And ultimately, it’s a welcome addition to the gaming community as a whole.

In an industry overwhelmed by different brands of sugary energy drinks, sodas, and junk food, it’s refreshing to see more and more companies promoting healthier lifestyle choices for gamers. CTRL is for gamers, by gamers — and they’re quickly spreading through the esports scene.

So whether you’re pushing through hours of Call of Duty scrims, streaming for hours in front of an audience, looking for a healthy drink as a workout supplement, or you simply don’t have time to cook a proper meal, CTRL is the perfect drink to give you a healthy boost.
