Who knows when your next “aha” moment will come — maybe it already has and you’re sitting on a golden egg of an idea but don’t quite know where to start. Often in the creative industry, it’s easy for us to get sucked into hyper-focusing on the minutiae. Without noticing, we can slip into thinking about the “how” and lose sight of the “why.” If you’ve been focusing on mapping out the details of your project instead of taking the time to understand how to orient yourself toward your ultimate goal — here are a few insights on what should be priorities when bringing brand visions to life.

Don’t Focus On The Tactics
…at least not right off the bat. Yes, the details will come into play, tactics will need to be executed — but never mind all that. What’s your “why”? Think explicitly about your vision and the people it impacts. Why does this matter to you, to your customer or client? What are you willing to commit in regards to time, financial investment, energy? Why is your vision different than your competitors?

Unite The Right People
Now let’s think about the minds, the talent, and the team. Have you identified the tribe you’ll need around you while you bring your vision to life? Are they the right people? Will you trust them to give it their all, to think unconventionally, to try and fail and try again until they get your vision right and start to move in the right direction?

Don’t Give Up
There are a million ways to get to the same destination, and some of those just might turn out to be more difficult or challenging than you’d expect. Some might even trick you into a dead-end — but don’t toss in the flag at the first challenge. Remember your “why,” stay true to your vision, and go about bringing it to life in another way. Draw inspiration from sources you normally wouldn’t turn to and stir up some new ideas.
