Mid-Day, the second largest circulated English tabloid in Mumbai,
announced on its front page dated 17 July 2020, subscriptions for its
e-paper priced at ₹1/day.

The announcement was followed by a notice that was put up at the Mid-Day’s printing press in Thane announcing retrenchments.

The announcement affects nearly 47 employees at the paper’s press. Mid-Day’s move comes weeks after the Times Group and The New Indian Express announced putting paywalls their e-papers. Mid-Day is published by Mid-Day Infomedia Private Limited, a subsidiary of Jagran Prakashan Limited a listed company, which also publishes Dainik Jagran.
