Predictions for the Year 2045

As the world celebrates Back to the Future Day, we wanted to share our views of what the world will be like 30 years from now…

On technology…

Mobile and connected technology will continue its rapid development from its current infancy to widespread adoption with ubiquitous use of connected wearable products in our everyday lives. This will also include universal adoption of smartphone technology throughout the developing world. A fully connected world.

The technology for solar to act as an efficient energy source will be nearing perfection, even charging our connected devices throughout the day!

On the Internet…

Expert knowledge will be more and more accessible in real-time with emotional recognition technology will make your Google searches even more instant and contextual to your specific need.

On the home…

We will truly be in the age of the autonomous Connected home. Your old heating, plumbing and electrics technology will be replaced by self-managing and self-maintaining systems that will react to your family’s needs and environment. Broadband will be the key utility to make your home work and be perceived as a basic human right in the Western World.

On automobile…

The common car will be electric; either self-driven and hired on-demand — the thought of owning a car, especially one with a combustion engine will be as niche as today’s ownership of a classic car; favored only by nostalgic, over-enthusiast Dads — born in the 2010s!

As vehicles become aware the number of road traffic accidents will fall dramatically and only occur when humans are in charge of the vehicles.

On your commute…

Thanks to the growing on-demand revolution and an ever-increasing freelance workforce, rush hours will become something on the past — with traffic flowing freely and as vehicles drive themselves; the morning crush on a tube train will become a productive slot for workers and relaxation for others. Nobody misses rush hour on the tube with faces pushed into sweaty armpits.

On health…

Consultations with health experts will be part of the daily routine. The interface for this will be via a face-to-face video call and of course the experts we speak with will be AI projections not real humans.

On space exploration…

Even after all the work Elon Musk did to push this agenda forwards the momentum feels somewhat lost after he opted to ‘Marsgrate’ the new buzz word for migration to Mars. Space exploration will still only be an option for the adventurous and super rich.

And lastly… on time-travel…

Sorry Marty, time-travel will still remain as something for the movies!
