CARBO ADDICTION.

WHY DO THEY START STICKING TO YOU AFTER 30?

Doesn’t a nice fresh, warm piece of bread taste great out of the oven?

Or perhaps a nice dish of pasta from your favorite restaurant?

I agree. As a starchy carb lover myself, I realized once you hit 30 things start to change. The biggest change is that these carbs actually start to “stick” to you.

You eat them and BOOM, there they are on your waist!

Now last week we talked about body types and how certain body types like that of a JOE GIRARDI can get away with more starchy carb eating.

But for those of us who can not, we must adjust our game rules.

THE STARCHY CARB GAME RULES FOR CARBAHOLICS

Rule #1: Work to cut your starchy carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes, baked goods) for a few weeks to flush your body and cells from these sugars, but also the cravings.

Rule #2: If you are going to consume these foods, make sure it is early in the day and immediately before or after (within 45 minutes) of a high intensity workout and training session.

Rule #3: Avoid eating these with dinner/ before bed.

Using these 3 simple rules will help you avoid the “stick” effect of carbs, but will also keep your body “using” them to provide energy and restoration for the physical work you are doing or have done.

Remember, the reason why athletes are able to consume more carbos in general is that they are constantly moving and need these for fuel and sustainable energy throughout the day and recovery process.

Unless you are a competitive athlete, training everyday, and even including multiple fitness sessions in your day, your true starch based carb needs will be very low.

Think about your cells as mini gas tanks. As you run and train, you are burning calories and fuels. You are using the foods you take in to sustain work. The goal is to run those stores down and then refuel. If you stores are always full due to minimal or no exercise or training, you then have surplus.

The surplus is the extra 10–20lbs you carry around. #trainlikeapro
