The Top 3 Best Games on Nintendo
With the release of The NES Classic Edition, I have decided to reveal my three favorite games for the original Nintendo system.
My first encounter with the classic video game console occurred when I walked over to my friend’s Grandparents’ house. He had all the classic games that people continue to play today. It’s crazy how the graphics have evolved in the past 30 years. The Nintendo Entertainment System sparked my love for video games. Although my love has faded, I will always have a place in my heart for these 3 games for the classic Nintendo system.
Paperboy is the most realistic game I have ever played. I know because I lived it. I can’t tell you how realistic Call of Duty is because I never enlisted in the army. I’m not sure how realistic Super Mario is because I never tried mushrooms.
When I was younger, my friend and I got our first job. We were responsible for delivering the advertisements once a week to our local neighbors. Trust me, it was a pain in the you know what.
The game, Paperboy perfectly illustrated what it’s like to deliver news papers to local houses. It feels like this game is mostly forgotten when classic games are discussed. It shouldn’t be. From being chased by a dog to avoiding cars, this game really shows the dangers of being a local paperboy.
2. Super Mario Brothers 3
The original Super Mario Brothers for Nintendo is one of the revolutionary games in history. The third installment of the franchise is a masterpiece. There are people that believe that it’s the best Mario game of all and they have a legitimate argument.
After the brief hiccup that is Super Mario Brothers 2, Nintendo went back to what works. They took the idea of the original Mario game and added more depth and detail.
We all remember where all the flutes are and how to avoid Bowser’s kids. Mario didn’t just have to the power to grow and shoot fireballs, he also learned how to fly and turn into stone. There are many new ideas that are still used today. The additions of the match games and mushroom houses solidified why Super Mario Brothers 3 is one of the best Mario games of all time.
1. The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda changed my life.
Although it’s not my favorite Legend of Zelda, this game was the genesis of my love for the franchise. Who would of thought a young dude in a green tunic would become so popular? No, it’s not Peter Pan. No, his name isn’t Zelda. His name is Link. Like Mario, he’s been saving the princess for a million years. For the past 28 years, I have been purchasing Nintendo’s latest systems solely because of the Zelda franchise.
The Legend of Zelda has dungeons and secrets all of the map. I never understood how you found some of the dungeons without a cheat guide. “Oh, look! Here’s a rock! Let’s blow it up with a bomb!” Once you figure out how to play The Legend of Zelda, you will agree that it’s the best game on the original Nintendo console. The actual video game cartridge is gold which proves it’s the gold standard of the Nintendo Entertainment System.
