A point Ben made which I couldn’t fit in the piece is that none of this would have been particularly funny for the trolls if he were already well-known. It’s because “real Ben” is not famous that his doppelganger can be taken for real by most people (including mainstream media, who then propagate the doppelganger through lack of research).
