I agree. It is off-putting to those of us who subscribe to no religion, but it’s also up to the individual clubs to deal with that issue as they see fit. Rotary is itself non-political and non-religious. Most of the local clubs still pray before meetings, but Sunrise has begun that tradition of sharing a non-denominational inspirational thought before meetings. Kat and I talked about it before we joined a few years ago and decided that you’re always going to find something wrong with any organization you might possibly join. That shouldn’t lead us to cut ourselves off from them. Just the opposite. Join, build consensus, and take it in a new direction.
