For the fourth consecutive time the Dornbirner Eishockey Club got defeated by the HC Orli Znojmo. The Czechs won 4:1 in their home arena, and with that they maintain the third position in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.

It was a slap in the face, 79 seconds into the game, when Colton Yellow Horn (2.) took care of the early lead for the home team. Same story as the day before (1:5-loss in Salzburg) — Dornbirn had a hard time finding their way into the game. Thus it didn’t come as a surprise that DEC-goalie David Madlener, who had gotten the nod over Florian Hardy, had to accept another goal early in the match. Once again it was Yellow Horn (10.), who raised the score to 2:0. Right behind former DEC-forward Andrew Kozek (Black Wings Linz), Yellow Horn is currently one of the league’s topscorer, with 20 goals. Dornbirn’s Matt Siddall is close by with 19 goals.
Madlener keeps DEC in game
Over time the team of DEC head coach Dave MacQueen was getting a little more organized, trying hardest to defend third place in the standings. But for the time being the Bulldogs failed to succeed. A DEC-powerplay got left unexploited, and right after the home team struck once more. Radek Cip (30.) put the puck in this time. DEC-goalie Madlener gave it everything, keeping Cip and Yellow Horn from making for another goal and the preliminary decision. During the final period the Eagles were cleverly defending their 3:0-lead. With seven minutes left Kyle Greentree (53.) got to score the consolation goal. When Dornbirn was on powerplay seconds before the end, Antonin Boruta (60./en) took care of the final score — 4:1 -, in the empty net. After two disappointing road games the Bulldogs are returning empty-handed to Vorarlberg. This coming Tuesday they will be hosting the EC-VSV, temporarily the opponent right behind them in the standings.
