Eating with purpose at Schoon Manufactory

There’s really no end to the delicious brunch spots in Cape Town, and with Spring around the corner, it’s the perfect time to waltz around town on a Sunday morning in search of the perfect flat white! I’m still discovering places that have been around for months while coming across new ones. Hence it was time to update the brunch spot list with some fresh spaces, which also happen to be oh-so-aesthetic!

You’re welcome.

1.Between Us

Bree Street

Previous owners of Skinny Legs Luxury Cafe, Twin sisters Jesse & Jamie Freidberg have done amazing things with this gorgeous, raw setting! As far as the menu’s concerned, there’s something for everyone with a breakfast menu that is divided into 4 sections: Grains, eggs, ploughman's platters and freshly baked sweet breads. Their freshly-squeezed citrus juices add a refreshing touch, served in weighted teardrop glasses. Choose to sit outside overlooking Bree street on a sunny morning.

2.The Swan Cafe

Zonnebloem

Experience a refined taste of Paris in this quaint, modern French crêperie with a fragrant boutique tea selection, and enchanting natural light. Best get there early as the queues often lead out the door…

(Photo ops for daysss)

3.Schoon

Stellenbosch

A little bit further out in Stellies, on the corner of the De Wet Centre’s courtyard, just off Church Street, Schoon is back and is becoming home to a new, first-of-its-kind experience in Stellenbosch, a Croissant and Coffee Bar–”This little corner is going to allow people to savour something handcrafted and thoughtfully made in their busy day.” Sit down and take a breath or quickly pop in on-the-go!

Alternatively, take a seat at the new and intimate Schoon Manufactory just a few minutes away–catch a glimpse of the chefs cooking (and baking) up a storm in the kitchen, while enjoying a bite in an authentic industrial space.

4.Skinny Legs Maison Mara

De Waterkant

Picture a minimalistic, chic setting, and wholesome good food. You’re most likely to bump into your trendy, friendly neighbourhood bloggers & models as they pop in for coffee after shopping at Maison Mara. The raw smoothies make for the perfect sweet, healthy treat!

5.Loading Bay

De Waterkant

Loading Bay believes in locally, ethically sourced produce. Much more than just an eatery, they also care about the brand, the experience, and the lifestyle. Nutty porridges and breakfast buns–Yes, please!
