Google funnel

Transparency is 2015 +

Last month Google had it’s 2015 I/O where they launched Android M, Google Cardboard, Google Now, Android pay, Google Home, Google Photos, along with a gang of other products and features, including 1 central security hub, but what is security in 2015?

The product looks incredible and google has definitely been lagging behind in the hardware side of tech for a long time now but check this, it looks SWEET! — but there's a fine line between security & convenience, and if you have secrets in 2015 and don't trust google, I wouldn’t be supporting this.

Android M

I'm all for the Tech movements and believe me if I could get a smartphone inside my head with WiFi connection & unlimited Gigs, I'll fuckin’ do it — fuck it, plug me in, But I feel like Google Hardware has been lagging behind for a reason. Google is the world's #1 company and has been for a minute now, you may have people like; “but what about Wall-Mart’s $203Billion in revenue, google isn’t even in the top 20 in the revenue list” and to you I say, Fuck wall-mart and fuck your Wikipedia revenue list, we are in an age of information and Google is the KING (or Queen) of information.

I don't know if you remember the EUcrat vs Google over a 2007 BBC story about a key person in the Financial meltdown, a controversial suit which toggled the boundaries of “Freedom of press” vs “our right to privacy”, or you may not have even come across the old Google Ocean Project which lead to Authors Guild, Inc. vs. Google, Inc. a case which google is still pursuing which could lead to google having a monopoly over knowledge.

With the successful display launch of all this hardware and software, Google may be chasing another Monopoly over this information market and Google has a great way of doing this, by acting as tho they are on your side-“Android M will finally give user the ability to control what permissions an app gets access to” This is great right?!? yes, but then google holds the information and other companies don't. With Google Photos, google announced something amazing, “UNLIMITED photo AND video storage for life” but not only that, to support “Experience” Google photos now have facial recognition software and new location recognition technologies which (the same way as facial recognition) will scan the photo to know where you are and who you’re with.

Look, please don’t get me wrong AT ALL, I do love the new google products and the new Android M may challenge my iPhone6 and my loyalty to apple (yes i love apple, even through all the hacks they received-fuck Samsung) but Google winning this hardware war, when they are killing the software information war, could mean good or bad depending the side of Google and depending on whether or not you have something to hide.

What ill do is leave you with a quote from the Apple CEO himself in a recent award ceremony (when I say recent, I mean yesterday the 2nd of June):

“I’m speaking to you from Silicon Valley, where some of the most prominent and successful companies have built their businesses by lulling their customers into complacency about their personal information. They’re gobbling up everything they can learn about you and trying to monetize it. We think that’s wrong. And it’s not the kind of company that Apple wants to be.”

I’ll also leave you with the full article: Tim Cook Talks Privacy & Encryption. Criticizes Google during award reception.

What do you think? Would love to hear your thoughts.
