Free Wifi in the city of Tirana
As a continue of the “Tirana Smart City” initiative, the Municipality of Tirana is offering Free Wifi in some of the main areas of the city which serve as some of the main tourist attraction points. Offering this service for free in the public spaces will enable citizens, as well as tourists, to access the internet at any time. This way they will have the possibility to get real time information about the city attractions, events which are being organized, or public transportation.

Skanderbeg Square was the first area to be covered with free Wifi. Under the name “Tirana Free WiFi”, everyone can have access with a simple log in. The public can navigate for free in 24 h/7 (from which 30 minutes with maximum speed).
In the Skanderbeg Square area, the Free WiFi service can be accessed approximately by 1500 users at the same time with optimal speed. Until today, the service is being used by an average of 300 users per day.
The next step was offering the service also in “ The New Bazaar” area which was introduced this week. After the reconstruction in 2017, The New Bazaar has been one of the main points of attractions of the city bringing many other tourists to visit it.

The project will continue in other very frequented areas such as Grand Park of Tirana and Student City Tirana which will also be covered with free public WiFi service.
