The DELTA Summit might be over, but the memories are still fresh! It was clearly an excellent event, and the DQR team, partnered with our friends from Genesis Mining, enjoyed every minute of it.

While Malta is making big steps towards becoming the world’s leading blockchain hub, the event – which serves as a platform to promote the country’s initiatives and business opportunities – served as a great opportunity for us to make the first high-profile public appearance on the Blockchain Island. We were also able to showcase what we are currently working on and what we desire to achieve in the future.

Over 4,000 people came together during the biggest blockchain industry event to date in Malta, which was held from October 3 to 5 at the Intercontinental Hotel IACC Conference Centre in St Julian’s.

Here’s what our booth looked like.

The expo area adjoining the central stage was the buzzing heart of the summit with its numerous stands. However, we also enlightened attendees with our two exhibiting areas – the central booth, which was reserved for delegates, and the lounge for our business partners and visiting journalists. We were engaged in numerous purposeful discussions with several insiders from our space, exchanged piles of business cards and gave away loads of useful goodies. Our noble mission was deeply appreciated by our interlocutors who also provided valuable feedback; many of them praised the layout of our stand, which is a huge compliment for our talented design team.

Genesis Mining was represented by its Co-founder and CEO Marco Streng, who was also one of the speakers on the main stage, alongside our CEO and Co-founder, Dr Kristian Haehndel. The duo, which also graces the cover of the official Delta magazine, spoke about how they met, why they decided to set up DQR, and addressed the main challenges that concern the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry.

Marco Streng from Genesis Mining and Dr Kristian Haehndel, the CEO and Co-founder of DQR, addressed the crowd about the significance of blockchain technology.

‘’Coming from the infrastructure background – Genesis Mining has been focused on pure infrastructure hardware that is powering blockchain – we want to go further and make this great technology, cryptocurrencies in particular, more accessible,’’ said Streng during the panel which was curated by Florian Grummes from Midas Touch Consulting. ‘’We were amazed by Kristian’s talent and leading skills, so we knew that we have to build an exchange on top of that, so everybody would have access to cryptocurrencies and the whole space.’’

Dr Haenhndel pointed out how important is to understand that we should utilise blockchain to make the world a better place: ‘’One of the core things that drive us, is the potential to create a more inclusive economy and to bring the technology to those who are unbanked or underbanked. A significant part of the population doesn’t have access to traditional systems. I think that the duty of blockchain engineers and social entrepreneurship is to make the technology available to these people.’’ They both agreed that the main challenge we face is to drive the mainstream adoption for this new technology in a coordinated and secure way, providing stable regulation so that the environment can flourish.

Additionally, DQR CEO also participated in a subsequent panel entitled ‘Malta: Building a Blockchain Community’, during which he emphasised how the island ‘’has the opportunity to really shape the industry and show others how it can be done.’’

Both Streng and Dr Haehndel were interviewed by some leading media conglomerates, including Bloomberg and Forbes, as well as several specialised crypto news portals, so do not hesitate to follow us on social media. You’ll find all the links below.

We’re not resting on our laurels, and are already gearing up for another highly-anticipated blockchain event: the Malta Blockchain Summit! More will be announced soon.
