Woods

Something big came through these woods. Trees, natures nerve endings bent from trauma. Was it a violent wind, a violent though, a ripple in the fabric of our lives. Did we had something to do with it? Did ghosts of those who we betrayed, who we left in pain and sorrow materialised in our realm. Are they looking for our remorse while we sleep at night? Perhaps these are the ghosts of our past relationships yearning for love that was taken from them, looking for trust that was stolen by us. These broken branches might be hidden signs that the time is nigh to redeem ourselves? Or maybe it is the other way around. Perhaps we are covering these crooked shapes of our past with newly formed and innocent memories, hopelessly trying to hide away the previous version of our life. Since we observe our past by looking at it too closely, we can’t see it as a whole. We don’t see a silhouette shaped by the years of love and broken hearts, every protrusion speaking of some sort of experience. So, waiting for time to obscure those painful and dark chapters of our life is indeed futile, as even broken trees cast shadow. Whatever came through these woods was an echo of our deeds. Dealing with it is another story.
