I find that writing helps me enormously to make sense of my world — inner and outer. Having just completed a YA novel, I found that much of the characters’ behaviours came straight out of my unconscious (or I could say that the characters have a life of their own and I can’r control them).

As I read back over much of what I have written, I gain insights into my (past) behaviour, my relationships and my philosophies.
