Tragedy At The Steps

Laughing could be heard from the steps

A heated argument a few doors down

The coming storm was arriving

With the children none the wiser

The two noises met without warning

A third was birthed in the meeting

One of the children felt a sweet embrace

The reason being more sinister

The third noise became louder

More rapid than before, more painful

The noise was too much

The child could bear

The end of a young life

So the guilty can live free

The laughing was replaced with crying

As life was unable to return
