We begin our part II of our Virtual Newsbyte with this from the Daughter of President Reagan, Patti Davis as the controversy over Mr. Trump’s second amendment comments continued:

To Donald Trump: I am the daughter of a man who was shot by someone who got his inspiration from a movie, someone who believed if he killed the President the actress from that movie would notice him. Your glib and horrifying comment about “Second Amendment people” was heard around the world. It was heard by sane and decent people who shudder at your fondness for verbal violence. It was heard by your supporters, many of whom gleefully and angrily yell, “Lock her up!” at your rallies. It was heard by the person sitting alone in a room, locked in his own dark fantasies, who sees unbridled violence as a way to make his mark in the world, and is just looking for ideas. Yes, Mr. Trump, words matter. But then you know that, which makes this all even more horrifying.

This is as Mr. Trump was on the prowl pushing the notion that President Obama and Mrs Clinton were the founders of ISIS throughout the day. It was of interest how Chris Cuomo of CNN discussed this with the Former Mayor of New York which is also telling — Chris Cuomo was as hard hitting as he could ever be. It is gratifying to see this finally. This is as it has emerged that one of Mrs. Clinton’s top aides, Cheryl Mills, had dealings with the Clinton Foundation while on Mrs. Clinton’s State Department Staff.

Beyond the on-going hype of the US Presidential Campaign, there have been quite a few disturbing developments out of Asia. Tourist sites throughout Thailand have been targeted which has resulted in deaths–this comes as Thais approved a military-imposed new Constitution which enshrines the role of the Military. There is also the on-going drama that is happening in the Philippines . The President, Mr. Duarte, has been quite busy as he has insulted the US Ambassador, cancelled a ceasefire with the Communist Rebels and made good of his promise of a vigilante campaign against what he deems as Drug dealers and criminals–What the Economist of London deemed “…Shoot First, ask later”.

As we move on around the World, there is Africa. South Africa has undergone a sea change as we noted in Virtual Newsbytes. There is also Zimbabwe that continues to suffer under “Comrade Bob” (what our favorite term is to refer to the autocratic President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe). It was quite striking how the opposition leader pictured below was mocked in one of the official press recently:

There is also Zambia that has seen unprecedented violence as the new Presidential Election Looms.

As we finish off this edition of “Virtual Newsbyte”, we wanted to send a special shoutout to Arianna Huffington as she plans to depart her namesake publication that she founded. We found it of special interest as she launched this with Andrew Breitbart who began as a researcher for Matt Drudge–and look at the traffic all three sites have had. We wish her well as she embarks upon her new adventure.
