There are multiple advantages to Drops.
- You get information about usage of your own identity/account system. You don’t have to match between Twitch chat users and your own game users. The linking process takes care of that.
- There is no need for you to implement a polling mechanism. We push the data to you.
- You can get data for multiple channels where your game is being streamed. No need to poll the viewer list for every channel streaming your game and then continually ping the streams API to get new streamers playing your game.
- Drops respects the user’s rights and privacy around participation in the program. They opt-in to being a part of Drops rather than being opted in by simply watching a stream.
- You receive data about viewers who aren’t logged into chat. This gives you information about potential reach of future programs.
Does all of that make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
