“A Dark Night” (A Poem for Continuing)
A dark night
Yet still a fight exists in me
There’s a plant that is stretching
Someday it’ll be a tree
But in this moment it’s crying
Crawling through life, not flying
And that’s 100% okay
This is just now — and tomorrow’s a new day
Invisible growth is sometimes the best
You just keep on going, and then you rest
The darkness is not who I am
Although in this moment I feel like a clam
Better days are ahead for me
I don’t need the proof of a full-grown tree
I listen to the beats still in my heart
That just around the corner is a bright, fresh start
For now I need to stay here
In this dark night
And fight
And fight
And fight
