Fresh concept mobile OS UX 1.0
So its summer 2017 and we are all very used to our phones operating system, whether you are using IOS or a Android device. When there is a new phone update we jump to update straight away just to see something different, new, modern or just a fresh layout. Many people will Jailbreak or root their device to avail of different themes, looking to spice up the device!
This year we saw the rise of popularity of the fidget spinner, a cheap toy that’s easy to understand, satisfying to use and has one function, a toy to concentrate all your fidgetiness centralised to your fingers. With all this its popularity grew so fast, the people love to to fidget! Those who didn’t buy all have their own tick whether it be twirling a pen, flappy bird or just twiddling their thumbs.
The layout is minimal, the screen isn’t filled with lots of apps causing anxiety, the apps are still there, just stored away neatly. Welcome to the home screen, here the user will be able to see basic network information, alarms, battery status etc. Beneath that, the time and date, clear information that is alway in mind to check. Centralised is the User of the phone, push it once to search the web, hold down to activate voice commands. The user icon is surrounded by main apps to use (changeable). At the bottom of the device we see an eclipse, containing most used/all apps on the device.
If the user swipes up on the eclipse it will convert into a rotating wheel. The User can swipe left/right to scroll through applications.
The design inspiration of the easy scroll home screen wheel came from using an dial up telephone in a friends house. The surrounding ideas just came from what I would like to see as a heavy user of my phone. As the phone is more involved in daily life for all, folders will be a huge part to divide work, college, social and just general utilities.
The User in this example has decided to choose Instagram, from here, a simple swipe up on the app will active an animation of the top panel of the screen transforming into Instagram falling to the bottom of the screen.
The bottom part of the screen will animate moving to the top of the screen, meeting in the centre. The animation of the top and bottom will connect and fall over the home screen. The connected parts will form as one, displaying the chosen app.
The final stage of the animation of opening an app. The whole page is displayed. From here the user will use the app as normal, as designed by the app creators.
