What are we to believe?
When we wake up, we go for a shower, we are told that cold showers are a fantastic way to wake up the body and mind, setting yourself for a powerful day full of intent, a shock to the system even. What if this is not the case and that a warm shower has the same or similar effect, hot showers can relieve tension and soothe stiff muscles. Studies have shown that taking a hot shower can amp up your oxytocin levels and ease anxiety. Anyone working with stress can use more of the love hormone in their life!
From the shower we get changed, some say wearing the same clothes every day or not changing the colour coordination can ease the mind, allowing more concentration going into other ideas. People such as Mark Zuckerberg, with a vast fortune to have a personal assistant to prepare a different outfit daily does not suit him, Mark prefers to have a wardrobe kitted with a plain colours with little variant in style, he feels that allotting time to a clothing decision wastes time and that time could have been used to fulfil ideas. Uniforms for some jobs can separate you from the average crowd in a workplace or on the street, whether the uniform gives you authority or just more access it still can hold back individuality, some people completely agree with uniforms for separation and power, others fear loss of expression through clothes or dressing (covering tattoos, piercings). A young man will dream to one day have a ‘suit job’, the young man will not know the preparation of the suit standards with a clean suit and a clean shave daily to maintain the image of a ‘suit job’. It will become a chore/hassle to set aside time to carry on the daily activities of a suit job or to others it is a pleasure to prepare for work. Colours, styles, trends are all great, as people discover who they are and how they want to live, growing a beard, clean shaven, long hair short hair or somewhere in between, individuality is important!
Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day, from a quick Google of breakfast being the most important meal of the day “Breakfast provides you with the energy and nutrients that lead to increased concentration in the classroom. Studies show that breakfast can be important in maintaining a healthy body weight.” Now depending what you eat, determines that without question, or is that wrong too? Some say fruit can be a great start to the day, a dose of vitamins, sugar, fibre and water, others will say that a serving of milk and wheat cereal can be just as good if not better. Due to marketing, we are lead to believe that certain food items are good for our bodies, scientific studies suggest other wise. Humans are the only species that consumes milk in adulthood, as well as the milk from another animal. Dairy was not consumed until after the agricultural revolution. Humans have hunted and killed animals for meat since prehistoric times, with beef being a leading animal being killed, instead of wasting the full animal the industry decided to also take the milk, now at a fully automated factory system level hundreds of years later, basically an animal being pumped seen as an unlimited amount of liquid money if marketed right. That being said people in some areas of the world have been consuming dairy for hundreds of years and there are many studies that document how the genes have changed from dairy products in the diet. Some humans have adapted to consuming dairy, this has become a pretty convincing argument for it being “natural” for us to consume it. There is lots of studies with milk being directly linked to lots of diseases, but because it is such a well marketed industry and casomorphins (the opioid compounds formed in our stomachs when we drink milk) supposed to be as addictive as morphine, it is tough to break away. With breakfast being said to be the most important meal of the day, each meal we have throughout our day will fuel the body and mind.
The omnivore’s dilemma, what do we do, who do we believe? Natural instinct is survival, the basis of cavemen thoughts, born - live - die, as grim as it sounds. Survival has now become easier with more access to medical help, variety of foods and free sharing of knowledge online but also we have more diseases, processed food and false knowledge shared online. The medical juxtaposition of medicine helping millions, but also to have killed millions has lead us to understand who knows? The answer cannot be answered yet as everything is generally trial and error tested with different dosages, chemical balances, allergic reactions and other things to take into account, still we cannot fight everything that can medically happen, but some humans set aside their life’s in the hope of helping other humans. Humans are still learning, we are all different, some operate completely different to others. Variety of food is constantly changing, with basic foods now being pumped with chemicals to make them bigger but we are still told they are absolutely fine. Hybrid food is getting more popular with people combining different foods together to create a new food. Some are made to help industries(e.g. grapes)grapes have always had a seed in them, seed usually make the fruit more nutritious and preserve them better, the hybrid industry found a way to get rid of the “annoying” seeds, now people have no problem buying them without thinking is there any repercussions of their fruit being genetically altered? Dr John Grey, in 2012 was diagnosed with parkinsons disease and self medicated himself with the best possible treatment to cure himself, he found that modern medicine was just not working for him. John looked in other directions seeking a cure, he found a research study that used grape seed extract with vitamin C to cure parkinsons, in his desperation John would have tried anything. After a few weeks he noticed it did help relieve symptoms and as another knock on effect he says it cured his ADHD. Is the removal of seeds from our fruits and plants really beneficial to our health or just a ease for consumption.
The internet is now filled with lots of articles, some highly educational, some terribly misleading with false knowledge. What we read and are told online can be all taken into account, but grasped as a grain of salt, who knows whether such a thing may work for some and not for others, trail and error. If it works for you and you are happy, I see no reason for why you should stop. We have one life, one body, treat your body well, if it does not suit you, stop or change it up somehow. As humans we are different, some are alike, some sound similar, some look similar but we are all humans still understanding everything, helping each generation to the next with newfound knowledge everyday. What we know for definite is a good nights sleep, clean food and an equal balance of work, rest and play works for every generation.
