EXPRESSION WEB

Finally downloaded Microsoft Expression Web 4 over the Xmas holiday. I had an overview of this editor when I began the webdesign module of my course. On opening it up I was very impressed with the UI, much better than Dreamweaver and better than Kompozer, though in fairness Kompozer had only been some University project and had done me well enough to begin with. I found Expression web fairly easy to use but then I have had a lot of experience using such editors. I found it much more user friendly than Dreamweaver and much better designed with a nicer darker colour scheme. I had always found Dreamweaver had too many opening features with lists of server side languages — coldfusion, PHP frameworks, AJAX etc which would only go on to confuse you if you just wanted an editor for front end web development

Looked like it had the usual array of CSS and Javascript properties panels but I have not explored these as I prefer to get into the source code and write out the code I want or Paste in and manipulate the Javascript. Certain that Dreamweaver has more features but then who really needs these when you can just dive into the code and add what exactly you need. I strongly recommend Microsoft’s Expression web 4 for any one who wants a powerful editor for front end development without all the unnecessary panels and pages that Dreamweaver has. Also it is free.
