Military Officers Association of America Awards Six for Support

With almost two decades of experience in the military and higher education, Damien Hansen works as office manager at the University of San Francisco. Prior to this role, he served as administration department head for the United States Navy, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nevada. While there, Damien Hansen belonged to the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).
As the country’s largest association of military officers, MOAA encourages a strong national defense and represents the interests of officers in the military and their families. Members can join who are active duty, retired, or are former National Guard or Reserve officers.
In April 2018, MOAA hosted a ceremony on Capitol Hill where it honored six individuals and organizations with the association’s highest awards. One award, known as the Colonel Arthur T. Marix Congressional Leadership Award, went to two U.S. Representatives from Arizona, republican Martha McSally and democrat Kyrsten Sinema.
The MOAA Distinguished Service Award went to Arizona-based Vantage Mobility International as well as Seattle’s Starbucks Coffee Company. The Colonel Paul W. Arcari Meritorious Service Award went to Samantha Gonzalez, who is a staffer with the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and Jorge Rueda, who is a former staffer with the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
