Exactly. At that age, I had 3 roommates in a one bedroom in SF. We lived off of heavily rationed ramen , no tv, we shared a phone. We learned where to get the free food offers, walked everywhere because buses and cabs cost money. We had no furniture; slept on a hand-me-down futon on the floor.

And it was some of the happiest times I ever lived. With $0 we were still able to do things to let off steam and have fun.

Just because you are poor, doesn’t mean you have to be miserable. That is a choice being made.

Just because you made some bad decisions, doesn’t make it someone else’s fault or unfixable (by you).
