Do I really need to become a reflective practitioner?

Blogging. A topic I know very little about. Many people I know are talking about “blogs” or “blogging”. However, a majority of us are thinking the same question: What is a “blog”? Well, let’s be frank — you’re reading one right now. Quite briefly, I have discovered that a blog is generally described as a comparison to a website that is maintained by one person as a way to express their opinions, ideas and experiences. They allow a network of readers an opportunity to keep up-to-date on the latest information of the blogger.
Ray (2012) reports that blogs that are used for educational purposes can be referred to as an “edublog”. Edublogs are rapidly emerging among tech-savvy educators. They can be used as instructional resource where teachers and students can post tips and explanations to help each other learn. If used accordingly, blogging and education combined could be a very effective tool in my teaching career. Educators in schools use blogging as a tool to communicate with fellow colleagues and parents.
For me, I guess blogging a little has opened up new avenues to expand my educational knowledge. I have engaged with my classmates and other educational organisations for the reason that blogs exist. I am able to share my thoughts and ideas, and in return, gain support and feedback from a network of like-minded people. I am confident it will have a major impact for me as I develop effective teaching strategies within the classroom.
