In search of the phone with the best value for money

As we said, in the search for a terminal with good quality/price ratio, high-end models, with some exceptions, are not precisely the ones that stand out the most. They have very important purchase arguments, the best features, design and of course cameras, but the technical difference does not always do justice to the price.

If we stick to get the best at the lowest possible price, the high-end of previous generations, teams on sale or with specific discounts, as well as a medium-high range each year more competent for the general public, are the most logical decisions and recommended. In many of the cases, their services fully satisfy the uses we are going to give the terminal.

Choosing the perfect phone is not easy. With bets from major manufacturers already available in the market, it is time to ask which of the available phones offers the best results. From AndroidPIT we have chosen the seven categories that best define the needs of each user and we have selected the smartphone that best defends each of them. While waiting for the analysis of the last batch of smartphones presented during the MWC.

Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung has renewed its flagship phones at the beginning of 2018, and with the Galaxy S9, it manages to improve a great Galaxy S8. The main improvement is to its rear camera, which remains a single sensor, but adds variable aperture between two positions: ƒ / 1.5 and ƒ / 2.4. This allows improving the quality of the photos in certain situations, and the beginning of what can be the improvement represented by the variable aperture cameras in the smartphone sector. In addition, it records video at 960 FPS and with a resolution of 720p, which puts it almost in line with the Sony Xperia XZ2.

That screen has a resolution of 2960 × 1440 pixels and is compatible with video playback in HDR10. It has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, micro-SD card reader, USB type C connector, 3.5 mm audio jack, a waterproof design with IP68 certificate, an ultra-fast LTE of up to 1.2 Gb / s download, wireless charging, fast charging and other extras that depend on external accessories. For example, the Dex base allows you to connect it to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and use it as a PC.

Huawei P20

The P20 of 2018 is a phone that is characterized by a careful design and a screen with a cut higher than the iPhone X to make room for the front camera of 24 Mpx. The screen allows you to see two applications at once in 1440 x 1440 pixels format, which according to LG improves productivity. The applications have been adapted to this screen format to, for example, be able to show a zone of the capture of photos in the application of the camera, and another one with the recent captures.
