The Danum Eagles have swooped to secure the services of 19 year old guard, Joe Lister. A free agent playing in the Leeds League for Mandela Warriors, Lister was recently crowned MVP of the All City Summer Slam tournament in Birmingham organised by ex-professional player and coach, Paul Douglas. Douglas was clearly impressed by Joe, he spoke to us about what he saw in the 6'1 guard.

“ Joe shone throughout the tournament especially in the final game where he dropped 3 back to back three pointers to bring his team to within 2 points with 15 seconds to go. He is an outstanding talent and a credit to his coaches. I will be looking out for him to do big things in the future!” — Douglas

Eagles assistant coach, Andy Whalley was similarly impressed with Lister after his first training session with the club:

“Joe is incredibly calm under pressure for such a young player, he’s always looking to make the next pass and reads the game very well. We’re looking forward to seeing how he can integrate with the team.” — Whalley

The 6'1 youngster from York will add depth in the back court for the Division 2 team and was thrilled to tell us why he chose the Eagles and how he already has his sights set on a big year.

“I joined the Eagles because I knew I would have the opportunity to grow as a player here, I’m a big fan of Coach Bob Martin and his shooting camps and have always admired the Danum Eagles as a club. My personal goal is to break into the starting 5 but success for the team is the priority and it’s clear that everyone at the club is on the same page.” — Lister

You’ll be able to see Joe and the rest of the Eagles in their home opener on September 24th as they take on Nottingham Hoods at The Pods at 4pm.
