Tolerance is beautiful thing, but it only works when it is a two-way street. The problem many in America have with muslims isn’t really about religion, its about an unwillingness to assimilate into the American way of life, and to respect the existing culture. The message Americans have been receiving from muslims immigrants has been one of intolerance. Do muslims agree that other religions and cultures should be respected and treated as equal? Apparently many do not, and that is the problem. The reality is unavoidable, many muslims immigrating into America site the Koran as justification for their belief that all people must either accept Islam or be destroyed. How could any non-muslim person find this acceptable? The problem muslims are experiencing is one of their own making. They are drinking from the cup they offer others. They will only receive tolerance when they, as a group, are willing to give it. They will only be welcomed, when they welcome others. There would be no reason for Americans to threaten to boycott, or block, any group if that group were not threatening them. Americans will not tolerate these kinds or ideas or goals, and if muslims want to be welcomed, they must openly disavow any ideas that their way of life is superior to the Constitution, and to the traditional American way of life .
