Dear Datawallet Community,

as the year comes to a close, we are delivering our third community update. It’s been a very successful year, and we’ve made some big strides, but the last five weeks have been even better. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Datawallet Alpha launches on iOS and Android

On December 13 we launched the alpha version of Datawallet on iOS and Android. While the beta version is still in development, we wanted to make the app already available to our community allow participants to pre-earn our token, DXT, by linking data to our market research platform, DX Insights. We furthermore introduced a referral program, which rewards users for inviting their friends.

You can download the app for both, iOS and Android, below:

The Datawallet Difference

A question that we have been asked a lot over the past weeks is “How is Datawallet different from {other company that says they want to host and create a marketplace for my data}?” Next to the obvious facts such as the fact that we have been working on this for the past 2.5 years, there is a host of differences which makes this a comparison between apples and oranges. Here are the key takeaways:

Difference #1: An Operational End-to-End Ecosystem

We are the only data exchange in the market that actually has a fully developed product, namely an end-to-end data exchange. We have developed this since early 2015 and, contrary to other established companies who are now pivoting into this space, we have held true to the mission we have been on since the first day we started.

For reference, here is a video of our CEO, Serafin Lion Engel, pitching Datawallet at Alchemist Accelerator in October 2015, at the end of a six month program which Datawallet was admitted to in April 2015:

Difference #2: The Datawallet API (or what some may label a “data protocol”)

Unlike most other data exchanges, we do not operate on the assumption that simply providing users with a data sourcing tool, and putting the resulting data on the blockchain, is enough. The data ecosystem closely resembles the oil industry in that data is required to undergo an extensive value chain. Raw data by itself has no value.

Exploration, which is what most data exchanges focus on, constitutes the upstream activity in the data supply ecosystem. However, this is simply the first of three major steps needed to arrive at a truly valuable product. And these two are arguably a lot harder to master, since they require domain expertise. At Datawallet, we have spent the last two years developing an ecosystem that does not simply focus on the first step of data exploration, but on the entire value chain of data productization. We don’t simply deliver crude oil. We deliver the data equivalent of petroleum, namely actionable data.

We’ve written an extensive post about this, which you can find below:

Tours and Talks

We have been on tour over the last weeks to deliver talks at several conferences and just wrapped the last two presentations of the year at Blockchain Expo North America in Santa Clara and Blockchain Impact in Toronto.

Datawallet partners with Fintrux

We are excited to announce that Datawallet is partnering with FintruX Networks to provide consumers with access to quicker, fairer, and more affordable loans via psychographic credit scoring. A little preview for January

2017 has been great, but it does not compare to what we have planned for January 2018 alone. We have a lot of incredible updates in the pipeline, among others we will reveal the long anticipated dates for our pre-sale and public sale.

Also, we’ll be back with a new token sale website, a full overview of all team members and advisors, and quite a bit of awesome content. Below is a little sneak preview.

That wraps the third edition of our community updates. For feedback, please ping us on Telegram, Twitter, or via Email. We’d love to hear from you!

We wish you all a fantastic holiday season, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
