Brilliant points John! Especially the spot-on reference to North Korea. I usually agree w Caitlin on foreign policy, but almost seems as though she has never studied basic Economics. Any solution that steals private assets to put them into ‘public’ hands is simply theft — no other word for it — which is exactly why Madison and his colleagues went w a Constitutional Republic instead of a pure democracy where the majority would just vote to take everything from the minority. How many failed and DEADLY attempts at socialism and communism will mankind have to endure until people stop suggesting it as a reasonable solution? It’s ridiculous. And any time absolute power is handed to the government, it will be abused for the benefit of the inner circle, even in a system where people vote and power changes back and forth between parties.
My final point is that I agree 100% that innovation always creates more jobs than get replaced. People always seem to forget that while a kiosk at McD’s might replace a few jobs, somebody has to design, engineer, manufacture, deliver, install, repair and constantly improve the kiosks. Shaking my head at how much I disagree with this piece …
