Ask ChatGPT to write a 500 word short story using the lyrics for inspiration of a song for inspiration.
In an attempt to create an interesting story, I chose a very interesting song. The lyrics of Hotel California are interesting. I didn’t have to copy/paste in the lyrics into ChatGPT because it’s obviously a well known song. But here are the lyrics from The Eagles, Hotel California wirtten by Don Henley and Glenn Frey in 1977
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the nightThere she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
“This could be Heaven or this could be Hell”
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them sayWelcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year)
You can find it hereHer mind is Tiffany-twisted
She got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forgetSo I called up the Captain
“Please bring me my wine”
He said, ‘We haven’t had that spirit here
Since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them sayWelcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibisMirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
And she said, ‘We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device”
And in the master’s chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can’t kill the beastLast thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax, “ said the night man
“We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave”

The following short story was written by ChatGPT on March 22, 2023 when I provided the following prompt:
Can you write me a 500 word story using the lyrics of Hotel California by the Eagles for inspiration?
Sure! Here’s a story inspired by the lyrics of Hotel California by the Eagles:
She stood on the dark desert highway, her mind filled with questions and doubts. She had been traveling for days, trying to escape her past and find a new beginning. But the road seemed endless, and the weight of her worries grew heavier with every mile.
Walking, she noticed a shimmering light in the distance. It looked like a mirage, but she couldn’t help feeling drawn to it. She quickened her pace and soon found herself standing in front of a grand hotel.
The Hotel California, its sign read, and something about it made her uneasy. She tried to shake off the feeling and stepped inside. The lobby was opulent, with marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and plush velvet couches. The staff was friendly and welcoming, but there was an underlying sense of mystery that she couldn’t quite place.
She checked into her room, a spacious suite with a balcony overlooking the desert. As she unpacked, she heard a strange sound coming from the hallway. It was a haunting melody, like nothing she had ever heard before. Curious, she followed the sound and found herself in a dimly lit bar.
The patrons were all dressed in black, and their faces were shrouded in shadows. The band played on, and the singer’s voice echoed through the room like a ghostly whisper. The words were cryptic, and she couldn’t help feeling like they were speaking directly to her.
“Welcome to the Hotel California,” the singer crooned. “Such a lovely place, such a lovely face.”
She felt a chill run down her spine and quickly made her way back to her room. But the melody stayed with her, haunting her dreams and filling her with dread.
Days turned into weeks, and she found herself unable to leave the hotel. The staff was friendly enough, and the amenities were top-notch, but there was something sinister lurking beneath the surface. She began to notice strange things, like doors that led to nowhere, and hallways that seemed to stretch on forever.
She tried to leave, but the hotel was like a maze, and every exit led back to where she started. The guests and staff all seemed trapped, like prisoners in a gilded cage. The hotel had become their home, and they were powerless to escape its grasp.
As the days wore on, she realized that the Hotel California was more than just a physical place. It was a state of mind, a prison of her own making. She had come to the hotel seeking refuge from her troubles, but in doing so, she had lost herself.
In the end, she knew that she had to break free. She gathered her courage and faced her fears head-on, tearing down the walls that had kept her trapped. And as she stepped out into the bright sunshine, she felt a weight lifted from her shoulders. The Hotel California faded into the distance, a distant memory of a time when she was lost and alone.
But even as she walked away, she couldn’t help feeling like the hotel was still there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for its next victim to arrive.

I reviewed the amazing story written by ChatGPT found below and then I used each paragraph as /imagine prompts for MidJourney. I also used additional descriptive words to get the visual images that I desired, made subtle tweaks, and provided an actress name the main character in the story.
/imagine prompt: real life photography, ultra detailed, photo realism of [actress name] [story text]
real life photography, ultra detailed, photo realism of gwyneth paltrow realized that the days wore on, that the Hotel California was more than just a physical place. It was a state of mind, a prison of her own making. She had come to the hotel seeking refuge from her troubles, but in doing so, she had lost herself.
Sometimes I would also replace the actress name where the story had the pronoun for the main character.
