A Wounded Vet’s Inspiring Business Plan to Help Other Veterans

Bobby Henline is a true American hero. A fearless soldier who has served four tours of duty, Henline was traveling in a Humvee north of Baghdad back in 2007 when his convoy was hit by a devastating roadside bomb. All other soldiers in Henline’s Humvee were killed, and Henline suffered major burns on most of his body. He underwent grueling surgeries, rehabilitation, and survivor’s guilt. Since then, Henline’s story has become an inspiration to all who read it.

Henline was able to pick up the pieces of his life through an unlikely coping mechanism: stand up comedy. While this might not seem like a funny thing to joke about, Henline found that making others laugh cheered himself up. Now he’s taken his love of helping others in another inspiring direction, by opening a restaurant that will employ other wounded veterans.

A lifelong fan of hamburgers, Henline got the idea to open a burger joint fully staffed by other wounded veterans. In this way, he hopes to give other wounded vets a sense of purpose and opportunity, which can be difficult for soldiers to find upon returning to civilian life — especially if they’ve been injured in the line of duty.

Henline is teaming up with the owner of one of his favorite hamburger spots in California, Biggie’s Great Burgers and Shakes. Owned by a Korean War veteran, Biggie’s is a popular spot that customers have often wanted to see expand to other locations. Henline is just the man for the job, and will open a second location in San Antonio.

Henline needs our support to reach his financial goal of raising funds for this inspiring undertaking. He has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $300k of funding to get the restaurant up and running. While supporters have already donated over $51k, spreading awareness about this amazing veteran and his continued service to America will go a long way toward reaching that goal. Bobby Henline is a hero and an inspiring role model for all of us.
