With studios getting bought or outstripped by tech companies; retreating into safe but dead-end reliance on franchises; outmaneuvered by new classes of creators; and no longer controlling the levers of marketing and distribution power, here’s a little question from my latest Tubefilter column. Do studios exist in 10 years as we know them now? Discuss.

Suffice it to say I’m hugely skeptical that more than one (possibly Disney, but post-Iger, who knows?) will be more or less like they are now as independent media-creation companies.
