Blogging is Not for the Weak

I don’t know when you created a blog, or what you blog is about, but what I do know is that you have ambition.

Imagine you’re at a party and the classic question comes up (you know, the only question people ask when there’s an awkward silence), “So, what do you do?”

“I write a blog,” you respond, knowing what the reaction will be. After a short pause they respond with a simple, “…oh!”

After that, a couple things could happen. They could ask how you make money (a popular question), or they could disregard the fact that they think you’re a stay at home person who looks at Pinterest all day.

We know the truth, though.

Those of us who write blogs for a living (mine being a photography blog) know how hard it is. The world sees bloggers as free spirits who are endless dreamers that drift here then there.

I see it differently…

I see bloggers as hard nosed entrepreneurs who face difficulty every day. I see bloggers as people who dare to take risks, make mistakes, get puched in the gut, and get back up more than a featherweight boxer in a heavyweight match.

It’s tough. The good days are few, and the hard days are plentiful. But we don’t quit. We pick ourselves up off the floor, wipe the sweat and blood from our face, and get back in the ring, ready for more punishment, more hard days.

You may have started your blog with a plan. I did. Mine was a four month plan to start earning a solid side income from something I’m passionate about.

When I started, I believed the lies. People told me to follow the plan and it’ll be easy.

People lie. But, I’m glad they lied to me. Because now I’m like you. Tough. Now I feel like I’m a blogger. I used to be soft, but now I fight for the tough yards.

So, here’s to us. The tough individuals who fight for what we are passionate about. Keep writing, keep shooting, keep baking, keep journaling. Whatever you are doing, keep it up.

Will you get punched? You bet.

Will you get knocked out? No. In fact, we want more.
