Great help — thank you. However, no mention is made of those like myself who would prefer to stay with the original bitcoin and use it as the tried-and-tested store of value — the best in the World in fact. Sure, will have to pay more for transactions — but these should be relatively few — e.g. monthly download to a lightweight client (like litecoin — which is fast and cheap). If using bitcoin for large amounts the mining fee will be negligible. The option of the old / original bitcoin should still be available — I would stay with it. I don’t trust the untried SegWit and the larger blocksize marginalises little people like me — i.e. a very dangerous move to centralisation.
