We sat on the stone steps and I regarded the young people and children.

A zoftig woman, dressed in black and wearing high heels walked about taking pictures then navigated the rock — down, down, down … miraculously without falling — to return to her friend group.

A child had an inflatable toy in the water. The little girl floated on her own then went back to her parents.

A woman rode her bike and let her little dog run free. It chased birds and then returned to her.

I go back to the city again and again to realize what I missed. Was I afraid or busy? Or just distracted? Yes.
