Sunburn is a known hazard, but can we really do something to prevent it ?

It’s already a known fact: sun overexposure is harmful for your skin and can lead to deadly decease. At a time where global warming is at it’s peak, do we really know what our skin endure everyday ? Who has never come back from the beach with shoulders as red as a lobster ? We try to limit the damage by putting on solar cream, but once our skin has been harmed, it’s too late. Skin can take days or weeks to fully regenerate. What we sometimes forget, is the consequences of sunburns, it can be a starting point for skin cancer or other skin disease.
Only 2 sunburns in your life can multiply by 10 the risks of melanoma (form of skin cancer).
Every year, numbers of cancer linked to sun overexposure is increase by 3,4 %.
This numbers are significant, risks due to overexposure are often misregarded and 53% of the population don’t know that a sunburn taken in your childhood will have consequences for the rest of your life.
The goal will be to better protect and inform our children against bad solar rays, not only by putting tons of solar cream on them, but also by watching how much time they stay under direct sunlight. There are two types of Ultraviolet lights the sun is dispensing, UV A and UV B. The last one is the most dangerous for our skins, and we are not all equal against this rays, different skin types produces more or less melanin.
Today, smart-band can help us monitor our heart rate, our number of steps, but none of them can monitor our sunlight exposure. The answer could come from a smart band: Tomee.
