Amidst the commentary of what types of cars should be driven and what types of vacations should be taken, it seems appropriate to ask if the government could do ok with less than a $186k take.

Serious, opened-ended, not hypothetical question: What is the maximum percentage of someone’s income that we the taxpayers should allow the government to take? And it is “allow”, because if it’s any other word, it really is “theft.” And if 51% of society can decide that the government is “allowed” to tax 100% of the other 49 percents’ earnings, then we really have an even bigger problem.

Insert your own numbers but the question remains: What is the maximum percentage of someone’s income that we the taxpayers should allow the government to take? Answer that question and you’ve just eastablished the correct size, in dollars, of the national budget. Want to grow the budget? Then you need to talk about growing everyone’s income.
