Bill introductions and other Death with Dignity news from five states!

We have exciting updates this week from all across the nation! From new bill introductions to final approvals, here is what has happened:

Bill Introductions

  • Delaware has introduced The Ron Silverio/Heather Block End of Life Options Law (HB140). The bill has been assigned to the House Health & Human Development Committee.

Bill Movement

  • Governor Phil Scott signed H190, eliminating Vermont’s residency requirement for medical aid in dying. Vermont is the first state in the country to pass legislation to remove a residency requirement.
  • Oregon’s HB2279 is scheduled for a work session in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, May 10.
  • Hawaii’s HB650 received notice of agreement from the State House of Representatives and passed its final reading on April 28. The bill was delivered to Governor Josh Green, who is expected to sign it.
  • After passing a full vote of the Senate, Nevada’s SB239 had a hearing with the Assembly Health and Human Services Committee on April 26.
