  1. Turn to fish and seafood as the star of your next BBQ. Lean protein and a change of pace!
  2. Get some green sauce. Ditch the BBQ sauce with high fructose corn syrup and opt for a pesto or chimichurri. With so many different ways to make these green sauces (basil, cilantro, parsley, arugula, chickweed) you’ll find a favorite for sure.
  3. Bring on the beans! Bean salad can easily replace pasta or potato salad drenched mayo. You’ve got your fiber, B vitamins, and can add any veggies you like.
  4. Use fresh whole grain bread instead of buns. It taste better, forces you to chew more which slows down your rate of ingesting calories, and is way less processed.
  5. Stay hydrated with water. For every alcoholic drink you have, couple it with a cup or water.
  6. Why turn to pastries for dessert when you can just keep grilling. Put some stone fruit sliced in half or basically any cut fruit on the grill for smokey sweet flavor.
  7. Remember, you are there for the friends not the food! Catch up, play a game of corn hole, and make some memories!
