Catalonia, a pioneer in Blockchain implementation

According to the release, blockchain will be one of the priorities of the Department of Digital Policies. A strategic plan will be made by the end of this year (31 December) and will be developed by 2019. It will identify the areas of activity in which this technology can develop the maximum potential and will include the economic evaluation that would be derived from its implementation.

Jordi Puignero, the counselor at the Department of Digital Policies, posted on Twitter yesterday, 25th of July, and said that blockchain will create a revolution similar to that created by the internet back in the 90’s.

Catalonia’s interest in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space has significantly increased as a way for Catalan people to be independent from Spain due to blockchain different applications.

Indeed, the digital identity will be one of the first applications of “blockchain” that the government wants to put into practice in Catalonia. In addition, there is also a project of the Catalan Institute of Energy for the users to transact the energy stored by solar panels by different cryptocurrencies.
