Dave, this is wonderful news! Congrats to you and your wife.

All the fears you listed are founded. As a father of 2 boys now I can tell you that the fears will always be there, even after your kid is born. But, it’ll be different.

Like sometimes I think about all the goals I want to accomplish and realize my time to accomplish them have passed. It’s sad to see your potential diminish. But at the same time, seeing my kid recite the planets all by himself (that he learned on his own) is the coolest thing to me. It’s a weird experience being a parent.

I’ll leave it at that because I don’t like giving (or receiving) unsolicited parenting advice and assume you’re the same but if you ever need perspective, advice, or sounding board I’m always happy to chat!
