Giving back on Black Friday

Bill Collins in Celtic Attitudes on Friday

COLONIE (Nov. 24, 2017) — His store was buzzing on Black Friday, but Bill Collins still had the time to think of others.

Collins, the owner of Celtic Attitudes, graciously donated a cozy sweatshirt from his store in Colonie Center that will be raffled off at the Democratic Majority’s Dec. 8th Spaghetti Dinner.

The annual dinner held in the Watervliet Elks Lodge raises money for the Albany County Adopt-A-Family Program, which provides hundreds of gifts to families in Albany County that lack necessities during the holidays.

The Majority Office is now collecting donations — goods and services — from generous suppliers for the raffle, and selling $1 raffle tickets. Last year’s spaghetti dinner and raffle brought in enough money for us to purchase toys, coats, blankets and other holiday gifts for more than 110 children, adults and seniors. This year’s Spaghetti Dinner starts at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Elks Lodge at 501 Fourth Ave., Watervliet. The suggested donation is $10 a plate.

The raffle is held at the dinner, typically at around 6 p.m. Those that donate prizes for the raffle will be listed in promotional materials and named in multiple ways at the dinner, unless they prefer not to be. There’s still time to donate items to be raffled, and you can purchase raffle tickets right up to the first prize giveaway. Please call 518–447–7039 if you can help.

The Majority Office says thank you to Bill Collins for contributing and to all who donate to our annual Spaghetti Dinner. Don’t forget to stop by for a plate of pasta and more on Dec. 8, and to Shop Albany County this holiday season.
